I had a job interview yesterday…

and it went well.

In the four months that I have been unemployed, this was my first real interview. I had a shot at other interviews, but me and those positions didn’t really mesh that well. Plus, I was so intent on opening my own business that I was sort of anti-9-to-5 throughout the whole spring.

But in the past few weeks, I’ve gone back and forth and decided against opening the business I was thinking of launching. I didn’t have the necessary heart for it. It was a job I knew I could do, convince people I could do, and be successful at it. But as I’ve said before, just because you can do something doesn’t mean you do it. The spirit of entrepreneurship runs in my family so I see myself launching one in the future anyway.

As for the position I interviewed for yesterday, it’s really performance based. It would allow me to be an editor and have control over topics I love. Anyone who has read this blog since its opened knows about my love/hate relationship with journalism. But ever since I’ve been unemployed and got an opportunity to write for my local paper, I really regained the love. I love journalism and can’t see that love fading.

In final, I’m thankful for Carla who linked me with the Manhattan Times, my mom for connecting me with this sports league, and Cedric for recommending me for the Junior Editor position. I’m very optimistic about my future as a journalist and hopefully the beginning of a great career starts with this position.

I will keep you all updated.
