Scene: 125th and Adam Clayton Powell
Day: January 20, 2009 (1 day before my birthday)
Time: 10:50 – 12:05
Temperature: Freezing
I’ve done a few things in my life that I’m proud of, but the proudest moment of my life was today. I didn’t stay home to watch the inauguration on the tube, but instead decided to go to the cultural epicenter of Black America, Harlem.
I got there at 10:50 and didn’t have my boots on and my toes were freezing as well as my manos, but i said: “F*** it.” These moments don’t come around too often.
On that day, Barack Obama was sworn in as President and as much as I’m proud of him, I’m proud of all the people I was around today, the country, and the world. We all helped in someway to get Barack into office.
What a beautiful day it was despite the freezing temperatures. I hugged people I didn’t know and heard every language from French to Arabic. It was a momentous occasion and too bad my camera ran out of battery cause my girl forgot to charge it (crazy woman)…
