My basketball card collection…

Some kids collected comic books and some collected sneakers. When I was young, I collected basketball cards.

I would go to the Marlboro store on Nagle and Dyckman with Jason (RIP), Andy, and Ronald and cop basketball cards to trade in school. We’d spend all our lunch money on these things because whoever had the most, was God in that school. Andy lived a block away so he led the league every year.

I really miss those days man. I don’t even know why we stopped. But it ended around 8th grade graduation. I remember one of my best friend’s Andy was a Barkley collector. He at-least had 300 cards. My friend Jason had about 500 Alonzo’s and Ronald had a bunch of Grant Hill’s.

My favorite player of all-time is David Robinson. He was the first reason I fell in love with the Spurs and will forever be in love with them. The mix of finesse and strength was amazing. I have 129 David Robinson cards I acquired through buying packs, trading with friends, and shopping on EBAY. I have everything from rookie cards to holograms.

Three other favorites of mine were Sharif, Duncan, and Damon. Man, I remember (making you jealous), when I had the authentic Damon “Dyno” jersey back in 98 stuntinG on everyone from Harlem to Inwood. The link shows the Mac one, but you know what I mean. Its one of the best, yet most slept on jerseys ever.

I loved Sharif’s game in Cal and got up to 36 cards for him. His career didn’t pan out as I expected. As for Timmmmmmy, I started exiting the game about the time when he entered. I had 11 Duncan’s when I stopped.

But nothing held more weight than Jordan’s. I used to buy Jordan’s off people not to have, but to be able to get my hands on some serious D Rob cards some of my friends didn’t want to let go. But their are some Jordan cards I never let go and never will. You can peep them if you enlarge the picture.

I really wonder if their are any stores left that sell various packs of Fleet, Topps, Ultra’s, etc. If their are any left, I may have to start collecting some Manu’s and Tony’s – even though I’m about 5-6 years late on those. Did any of ya’ll collect cards too? If you got any David Robinson’s from back in the day, hit me up. I got some Jordan’s you may like…

Lol, I used to go to the same store (sometimes the one on the other side of Dyckman) but Angel and I collected Marvel comic book cards. It was a simpler time back then…

It definitely was a simpler time bro. Marvel comics? I do remember seeing you with those cards.
