I feel that haitians are unfairly treated in the United States. Color is definitely a reason for the discrimination between Latinos and haitians. Cubans are granted asylum because of the Castro regime.... this is not true. Cubans are treated better because of their light skinned complexions. The article mentions the fact that dark skinned Cubans are less fortunate than light skinned Cubans, this is a clear indication of History repeating itself. I heard on a talk show the other day that discrimination is no longer an issue. However, discrimination still exists, probably not as potent as many years ago but it still exists. The comment, "Haitians haven't worked hard enough here" is pure rubbish. Haitians are some of the most hard working people I know. Part of that is due to the fact that America is giving them a chance that could probably never happen in their country. America is a good country but......remember the principles that this country was founded on. Slavery and discrimination was top priority for the United States in the 1800's. The richness of America seems to be only intended for whites and white complexion people. Time has changed but some people do not. If the opportunity arose to place blacks back into slavery and continue the unconstitutional act of racism, I believe a lot of people would fight for it. We should also allow everyone to immmigrate from Africa aswell since there is so much poverty there.. And there's lots of countries in poverty in Europe and Asia aswell. Why dont we open free immigration to them all aswell?
